Designed for juniors and seniors. How did human capacity for language evolve? Examination of origin of human language from biological, comparative, developmental, social and computational perspectives. Topics include evolutionary theory, linguistic structure, gesture and speech, animal communication, language learning, language disorders, and computational models of language emergence.
