Lecture, three hours; laboratory, two hours. Enforced requisite: course 2 with grade of C or better or Spanish placement test. Taught in Spanish. Laboratory is online. Introductory Spanish language and culture course that is proficiency-oriented, communicative, and task-based to help develop communicative competence in four skill areas (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), as well as cultural competence. P/NP or letter grading.
