<p>Lecture, four hours. Focus on the relationship between gender inequality, the economy, and health. Overview of the evidence pulled together by the World Health Organization (WHO) Commission on the Social Determinants of Health and others on how gender inequality broadly and economic inequality and discrimination specifically impact health across sexes and genders. Examination of how national policies and laws can address gender inequalities in the economy, discrimination, and health. Examination of gender discrimination; intersectional discrimination; sexual harassment; how inequalities in care drive gender disparities; and examples of effective approaches to law, policy, and norm change. Guest speakers bring expertise on approaches at the national, regional, and global level to change. Students have the opportunity to select an area into which to dive more deeply. S/U or letter grading.</p>
