Research Group Seminars in Labor Studies

Gain meaningful work experience, develop work skills, and explore possible career paths.

Strengthen writing and presentation skills by completing a Capstone Project Portfolio;

Understand the goals of the community organization where you’re working and how it fits
into the wider network of working-class organizations, unions, advocacy groups, and social
movements in Southern California today;

Understand the meaning and value of community-engaged learning and research;

Integrate theory and practice to complete their own community-engaged participatory
research project;

Explore in depth various methods and approaches to research;

Develop skills in the interpretation, analysis, and presentation of data;

Learn about the expertise and experiences of workers in Southern California through
engagement, analytical observation, and hands-on participation;
