<p>Laboratory, four hours. Requisites: courses 10, 100A, 100B. Study of basic psychological research methods and how they are applied in social and affective neuroscience. In evaluating different methods, strengths and weaknesses are weighed with a specific focus on using different types of approaches to understand social and affective motivations in decision making. Focus on behavioral and physiological experimental approaches and on using an available dataset and analysis tools. May be repeated once for credit. P/NP or letter grading.</p>

Social and Affective Neuroscience Laboratory

You will learn the basic concepts of research methods and how to translate abstract ideas into testable hypotheses. 



By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and skills to understand and critique social and affective neuroscience research and conduct your own study using approaches that are common to the field.


In the process of learning core concepts of social and affective neuroscience methods, you will gain first-hand experience in conducting research including forming a hypothesis, designing an experiment, collecting data, performing statistical analysis, and disseminating findings in both a research paper and brief presentation format.
