<p>(Same as Theater CM102E and World Arts and Cultures CM165.) Seminar, three hours. Process and project-oriented exploration and examination of social justice, and staging and preparation to perform a contemporary work fusing hip-hop theater, spoken poetry, movement, music, art, and activism. Study and preparation for collaborative performances of WHAT IT IZ: The Spoken Wordical—a hip-hop theater production written by formerly incarcerated artists, and adapted in a creative writing workshop at the California Institute for Women (CIW)—the state’s oldest women’s prison. May be repeated once for credit. Concurrently scheduled with course CM206. P/NP or letter grading.</p>
