<p>Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Limited to junior/senior Physiological Science majors. Study of the interrelationships between social behavior, the social environment, physiology, and the brain. Students gain understanding of how a multitude of factors such as genes, cells, molecules, and the social environment interact to shape the physiological control of behavior; and how these factors can influence one another. Letter grading.</p>

Understand the utility of different laboratory techniques for social neuroscience.

Be able to describe the importance of different types of neuroplasticity to social behavior

Know the different molecules and brain regions, with an emphasis on the social behavior network, that regulate social behavior. 

Know the different ways social behavior is defined and understand each point of view. 


Understand Tinbergin’s levels of analysis and why it’s useful for studying social behavior.
